Romania, the autumn of the year 1972. Ana, a 17 year-old teenager, finds out that her boyfriend will flee the country in a few days. She shows up at one of her classmate’s parties, knowing he will also be there. They listen to Metronom, broadcast by Radio Free Europe, and write a letter to the producer, Cornel Chiriac. It is all fun and games until the Police shows up.

Alexandru Belc’s film offers an incursion into teen life under the iron fist of dictatorship in 1970s Romania. Back then, the communist regime regulated everything and every deviation from the rule was strictly punished. You couldn’t trust anyone, as even your brother could be snitching on you. While it seems unbelievable now, this is how my parents grew up.
